Whipping twine in waxed polyester sold per 50 metre coil, strong, hardwearing and waterproof – perfect for marine use and much more. Ideal for whipping smaller diameter ropes. Whipping provides a neat, soft, aesthetic and permanent end to the rope and prevents fibres from unravelling. Used to create a whipping knot (or whipping) by binding around the end of a rope to prevent the tendency to fray.
Polyester has a specific gravity of 1.38 which means it will not float. Polyester has no strength loss when wet, it is flexible and has good abrasion resistance. Polyester fibres also have good resistance to chemicals and have a melting point of 295°C.
