Carbon stator for PSS propeller shaft seals, when paired with a rotating stainless steel 316 rotor a mechanical seal is created. The stationary graphite stator attaches to the rubber bellows. This static carbon stator flange is purposely bored larger than the shaft diameter to allow for any problems caused by misalignment and vibration.
