Wiper Systems On A Boat

Here is some useful information on the Roca range of wiper systems, based on questions we are commonly asked by our customers.

About Roca

Roca is a family owned company which started in 1976 in Sweden. They have a global reputation for high quality wiper systems and marine fittings, made from the highest quality materials and designed to meet and exceed many European standards.

Designs to suit single person powerboats, to fully crewed super yachts which are available from stock. Built to give reliable and durable service, Roca wiper systems are standard fit on many new builds.

Wiper Arms

Roca offer three different types of arms to give the best sweep for your application.

Pantograph wiper illustration

Pantograph - this is a wiper which features a dual-arm mechanism that allows the wiper blade to maintain a consistent angle and pressure across the entire surface of the window. The pantograph wiper system is particularly beneficial where visibility is crucial for navigation and safety. It is constructed from corrosion-resistant materials to withstand the salty and humid conditions at sea.

Pendulum - this wiper has unique design and provides efficient & smooth windshield wiping. The pendulum mechanism allows the wiper arm to pivot around a central point, adapting to the curvature of the windshield. It is powered by a motor, offering controlled and adjustable wiping speeds. These wiper arms are constructed from durable materials, ensuring resistance to corrosion.

Adjustable tip wiper illustration

Adjustable tip - is designed to allow the wiper blades to be set at specific angles to the arm. This is useful for maximising wiped area or ensuring that the park position is parallel to the window frame. These wipers are compatible with various wiper systems and can be easily adjusted in length to fit most screens. They are constructed from high-quality materials to ensure durability in marine environments.

Wiper Motors

How to tell the torque pf a Roca wiper motor: the model number relates to how powerful the motors are, for example, a W12 motor produces 12Nm of torque and the heavy duty W38 produces 38Nm of torque.

Larger blades and arms require higher torque motors. We select the motor unit which offers the correct torque for the wiper arm and blade set up, ensuring the Roca wiper system gives you optimum performance.
