14E4 Boat Engine Damper Drive Plate from R&D Marine
Fitted between the marine engine and the gearbox input shaft, a damper drive plate is designed to transmit the engine power to the gearbox, whilst reducing transmitted gear noise and providing a cushioned drive when selecting gear. All R and D Damper Drive plates include a 'failsafe' design.
Also called the Driven Plate, Damper Plate or Clutch Plate, the 14E4 Damper Drive Plate is from the R and D Loop element range. Common applications for the 14E4 drive plate include BMC, Ford and Perkins engines which have a flywheel with the 6.125" diameter fixings aperture.
R&D Marine 14E4 clutch plate technical details:
- Spline: 10 teeth SAE 1" x 10T (25.4mm diameter) for PRM 101, PRM 160 and PRM 260 gearboxes.
- Diameter of drive plate back plate which bolts to the engine flywheel: 155.45mm (6.125")
- Back plate fixing holes: The small back plate has 5 x 6.35mm holes (0.25") on 142mm PCD (5.593). This was a very common fixing arrangement for BMC, Leyland, Thornycroft and Perkins engines
- Drive plate maximum thickness: 35mm (1.38")
Fitted with a type E loop element for 245Nm 180 ft lb torque this element does extend over the drive plate back plate, so please check carefully if space is limited. The 14E4 drive plate can be mounted either round on the flywheel and rotated in either direction. This drive plate element will provide linear stiffness up to 3 degrees of deflection and is failsafe.
