The PRM140 gearbox was the uprated replacement for the PRM 100 gearbox. Newage PRM produced them in three versions, the PRM 140S (short shaft) and PRM 140L (long shaft) and PRM 140T (tapered shaft). All were eventually replaced by the PRM 101 when production ceased in March August 1978. The last PRM140 gearbox built was serial number 16914.
The latest replacement is the PRM 260D. This is an uprated gearbox, and has very similar dimensions, but please note that due to the model variations, the input shaft length and mounting hole patterns should be checked, as a new drive plate will be needed and the mounting arrangement will need some modification.
Many spares for the PRM 140, PRM 101, PRM 160 and PRM 260 gearbox ranges are the same. However, there are variations, especially with bearings, shafts and pinions, as well as the control block assembly. As the PRM 140 is now a discontinued gearbox, some items are no longer available. Make sure you carefully cost out the benefits of spending on a spares rebuild, rather than spending a little extra on fitting a fully warranted brand new replacement gearbox (PRM260)
The oil filter element fitted to these gearboxes is also discontinued. Factory advice is to discard the old filter and fit the filter blanking kit PRM-MT0035.
We stock many of the main service items, but if you cannot find what you need, please contact us with your requirements, remembering to quote the model and serial number.
