One of the most important maintenance aspects of owning a boat is the protection of underwater equipment from electrolytic corrosion.
Dissimilar metals in water can set up electrical currents, and cause major damage to vital equipment such as the propeller, stern gear, drive, through hull fittings, engine etc. Fortunately help is available from MGDUFF sacrificial Anodes. They come in many styles to suit most applications, and are available in Zinc, Magnesium or Aluminium to suit most water types.
We also offer replacement anodes from the popular Vetus equipment range.
As a general guide, for steel and GRP vessels used in and around the UK, use Zinc anodes for Salt water applications, and Magnesium anodes for Fresh water applications. Internal engine anodes are usually Zinc. Aluminium anodes are popular on continental waterway craft.
Please note that this is very basic information and you should never guess which type of anodes you need, please contact us if you need any help or advice choosing your anodes.
